Fifty five year old council worker’s age based WFH claim denied A recent ruling from the Fair Work Commission in Australia has highlighted the tension between flexibility and favoritism in the workplace.

A 55 year old council worker, Steve Polak, had his request to work from home up to four days a week rejected on the grounds that it would compromise team engagement and in person collaboration.

Polak's manager argued that having him in the office for two days a week was essential for building team connection, while also acknowledging that he could schedule his work from home days to manage the car sharing arrangement.
